Marbled is a dual colored gene that resembles a classic tabby cat's irregular marking patterns.

Non-dominant Marble (nMb) can cover up to 40% of a kukuri's body, and the whole marking must be darker than the base color.

The dominant form (MbMb) may cover up to 90% of the kukuri, and the colors can be lighter or darker.

A Guide to Marbled

IRL examples

1 - Marbled can make use of various shapes and patterns to create irregular connecting shapes. These can include swirls, connected lines and curves, large blotches and more!

2 - Connecting various shapes can be a powerful tool when making Marbled, allowing a further natural look!

Note: tabby cats have striping on their legs and back, this is not permitted in Marbled!

Size and Shape

Marbled often contains swirling and intertwining shapes. Thicker forms are not unheard of.

However, Marbled does NOT need to contain swirls, rather it can be a series of combined irregular shapes. Marbled may also be thinner and more detailed.

Things to Avoid

Marbled is a irregularly shaped marking and should avoid too many repeating shapes such as fishhooks. Aim to vary up the shapes!

Marbled also can not be too stripe-like or have too many stripe-like shapes; avoiding these shapes will help your Marbled greatly!

Range and shapes

Marbled can cover its max range (top) or its minimum range (bottom).

It can also have swirling, smooth shapes compared to the prior pictured irregular shapes.

Just remember to make sure it doesn't start looking like Wisp!

Inner fill and thickness

Marbled can be both thick and thin, however there are some things to avoid.

While the border of the Marble can be rather thick, it should also have substancial inner filling as well. Avoid making Marbled's border too thick or the inner layer too small!

In the same light, Marbled can be thin but it shouldn't turn into something too stringy. It should be thick enough to contain the inner layer of the marking easily!

Shaping

Marbled allows for a lot of shapes and variety, but there's some things to avoid.

Wispy, long curly, and other similar shapes are not permitted as these get too close to Wisp. Similarly Marbled, like all markings, can not contain heart shapes unless Heart is also present in the geno!

Marbled can contain patch-like shapes in order to create its effect, however Marbled can not create solely patch -like shapes!

Forming rings around kukuris legs, tails or body with marbled is not allowed.

More good examples

Marbled can have a lot of variety, it can be very thick with thin borders, or thin with thicker borders, and everything inbetween!

The most important thing to rememember is that Marbled must make irregular and natural patterns! This means avoiding purely stripes is a must!

Marbled can have some stray spots in addition to help with its patterning, but keep these to a minimum!

Spreading Marbled

Marbled can not be spread between multiple parts of the body, it should be one spot of Marbled on the body. This means it can not appear both on the tail and the head!

Marbled may appear on Prairie feathers if the feathers are near where the Marbled is covering the body.
