A Guide to Wax


Edges and holes


Wax allows for a variety of edge choices, such as blended, mottled, hard edge, soft, textured - and these can all be used at the same time.

The only limitation is that the edges of the inner holes must be hard or soft.

However, these holes can be different sizes and all sorts of natural shapes.

Wax can be any natural marking colour in respect of its basecoat, including black and white.

Coverage


So long as Wax doesn't exceed it's maximum coverage, it can appear anywhere on the body and doesn't have to be connected.

Recessive Wax (nWx) can cover up to 30% of the kukuri's body, but dominant Wax (WxWx) can cover the entire kukuri's body.

Areas of Wax must always contain holes.

Snowflake (left) and Wax (right) are quite similar.

However, Wax allows for a wider variety of edge and colour choices.

Like Snowflake and unlike Piebald, Wax's areas don't need to be connected.

Large holes

Wax can also have large holes, allowing it to create a water surface-like look. These holes shouldn't merge, or have mixed edge types.
