Minimal Black and White

Minimal Black and White is an entirely optional free marking that players can use as part of a kukuri's design. Both free white and black can appear together in a design; you don't need to choose only one.

There are a number of ranges where black and white can be used and, so long as it falls inside these ranges, players have freedom to design this marking as they want.

Examples of Minimal Black and White

As minimal black and white have access to all edge allowances, they can use - for example - a mix of blended and hard edges in the same area.

However, when blending this free mark, make sure that the blended area is touching an area that's solid enough to be considered an area of black or white. In this scenario, solid black spots can't substitute for a white blend or vice versa.

Minimal black and white can appear in a vast amount of shapes, and is allowed to mimic existing markings.

The only marking minimal black and white can't mimic is Hearts, unless the Heart gene is present in the genotype.

Eye Accents

It's possible to create small characteristic accents around the eye that are as dark as the lineart, provided it falls inside the range of minimal black and white allowances.

This black can extend slightly inside the eye to create eyelid or eyelash accents - but make sure not to fill too much of the eye. Actual eyelid edits or changing the shape of the eye lineart can only be done using a Scroll of Modification from The Shop.

Eyebrow dots

Some people like to give their kukuri animal-like eyebrow dots. These dots may use a special range located right over the eye. These spots follow all normal minimal black and white rules aside from a few things.

Eyebrow dots may not create unnatural shapes such as stars, hearts, bolts or other similar shapes.
Eyebrow dots also may not be made of multiple spots, it should be one spot above each eye!
